A fantastic pair of Paris Porcelain Perfumers (incense burners) made in France in the mud 19th Century and attributed to Jacob Petit.

The perfumers depict a Sultan and his Sultana sat upon tasselled cushions leaning on an ornate arm rest she holding a yellow rose, he an handkerchief with his curved (Tulwar) sword at his belt.

Both figures are beautifully modelled and are highly detailed with raised gilded accents and heavily patterned fabrics. The faces are expressive and hands sensitively depicted.

This is a large and heavy pair of incense burners made of hard paste porcelain measuring max. 27 x 16 x 12cm and weighing a total of 4.6kg.

Although unmarked I have it on good authority that this pair are by Jacob Petit and indeed almost identical examples by him have been found online. The underside does have an incised 1 and 01 but I don’t know if the marks are significant.
