Stunning pate de Verre glass pendant light/plafonnier retailed by Lucien Fontaine of Nuilly-sur-Seine, France in the 1920s/30s.
The plafonnier has ornate hanging chains threaded through which, one has the wiring for the integrated bulb holder. The original ceiling rose is present.
The glass is in excellent condition and is marked “L’elf” as per my final photograph.
L’elf stands for “le establissement Lucien Fontaine who were a lighting manufacturer and retailer in Nuilly-sur-Seine in the 1920s and 30s.
Lucien Fontaine used the top glass makers of the day for the glass components including Delatte, Muller Freres and Charles Schneider but being as this particular plafonnier bears only his trademark, we shall never know who the glass artist was.
