Stunning large trumpet shaped “Vase de Fantasie No.1” made by Baccarat between 1840-1870 and converted to a table lamp sometime thereafter but not recently.

The vase has a moulded pattern of fruiting vine spiralling around the main body which is white Opaline glass, overlaid with a blue finish and gilded accents to the leaves and fruit.

As can be seen in my pictures, this vase is documented in old Baccarat catalogues and came in a variety of colours and finishes. This particular turquoise blue being quite rare.

In its present incarnation as a table lamp, I can see no damage but cannot guarantee that it would be perfect were the lamp fittings to be removed. That said, the non invasive way that the vase has been electrified, is a good sign.

The lamp is working, has a 1.5m braided gold flex with standard three pin plug and earthed bulb holder.

The underside of the lamp is lined with turquoise blue baize to prevent scratches to any surface it is placed upon.

Height to top of bulb holder 50cm

NB wine not included in the sale.

Condition

Excellent condition in its form as a lamp apart from slight discolouration to the blue finish - I was unwilling to wash something electrical.

Unable to guarantee condition if the conversion is reversed.
