Stunning regency cabinet/dessert plate made by John Ridgway and dating to the regency period.
The plate has an apple green border with a central hand painted panel depicting a profusion of flowers tumbling out of a wicker basket. The sheer artistry in the painting is really something to behold particularly when one considers the conditions of the time. The plate has a gilded floral pattern overlaid onto the green border and decorative moulded rim.
The reverse of this plate is unmarked except for the pattern number 7121 in overglaze puce however, I do have another of these plates in my other listings that DOES have the John Ridgway backstamp which will verify the maker and date of between 1830-1841.
