Rare and sublime antique oil lamp standing 59.5cm tall overall.
This beautiful oil lamp has a Zsolnay pecs body mounted in an ornate brass mounting with four paw feet on a quatrefoil base. The body is decorated in the instantly recognisable Persian style with scrolling pink green and blue flowers and leaves outlined in gold. The “lid” of the urn conceals a glass reservoir in excellent condition which slots neatly into the base. The top of the lid has a brass lugged type collar full marked “Messenger’s Patent”
The Burner is a high quality Messengers No.2 which is fully marked to the black glass wick winder button and beneath the gallery. The burner has a key-lift rise and fall mechanism which works perfectly and also has a working snuffer lever complete with original dropper. A Flat bulge chimney and wick has been fitted.
The pretty frilled shade is of a graduated cranberry glass with a frilled rim and embossed quilted pattern.
