A beautiful pair of Aurelian ware vases designed by William Moorcroft for James Macintyre & Co Ltd between 1897 and before 1913.
The vases are both in excellent condition and are fully marked to the underside with the printed mark for James Macintyre and also the pattern number M2943. There are also impressed shape numbers.
Each vase stands 13cm tall.
William Moorcroft was employed by Staffordshire pottery company James Macintyre & Co Ltd in 1897. Within a year he was in charge of Macintyre’s art pottery studio creating designs most notably for the Aurelian ware range and Florian ware range.
William Moorcroft and James Macintyre split up in 1913 and Moorcroft founded his own factory nearby.
